The University of Guam/University of California in San Diego Consortium for Lytico and Bodig Research Project in collaboration with the Department of Public Health and Social Services, Division of Senior Citizens, is pleased to launch Guam's Family Caregiver Support Program. This national program initiative, now a local program, offers families access to information, respite care, counseling, training and supplemental services to help meet their caregiving challenges.

Funding for this program was made available through local and federal funds provided under Title III E of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended by the Older Americans Act Amendments of 2000 for the National Family Caregiver Support Program.

The Guam Family Caregiver Support Program provides:

· Information to caregivers about available services;

· Assistance to caregivers in gaining access to supportive services;

· Individual counseling, organization of support groups, and training caregivers to assist them in making decisions and solving problems relating to their caregiving roles;

· Respite care to enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved from their caregiving responsibilities; and

· Supplemental services, on a limited basis, to complement the care provided by caregivers.
